Applied Sciences & Business Studies Department
The Department of Applied Sciences and Business Studies is the academic cross-cutting / service department. While other training departments teach the core technical programs, Applied Sciences & Business Studies provides the academic foundation and business skills through training in Engineering Mathematics, Science, Entrepreneurship and Management, Communication Skills as well as Information Communication Technology. The core mandate of the department is to produce graduates who are not only technically competent but also able to apply analytical skills and fundamental business principles.
Sections Under Applied Sciences & Business Studies Department
In order to effectively deliver on its’ mandate, the department has two sections offering unique courses and programs.
Anyone wishing to join NORTEC under the Department of Applied Sciences & Business Studies can pursue any of the programs listed above. The programs offer rewarding career opportunities for graduates in various sectors such as mining, manufacturing construction and information communication & technology
The department also offers short course training for the general public and industry. The courses are targeted at anyone who intends to up-skill, re-skill, or learn a new skill. The courses are specially designed to develop capacity in trainees to effectively, efficiently and competently perform in their areas of training. These courses are held on campus or onsite (at the respective industry requiring training of staff).
